Give

# Your gift rides with us.

Not everyone can pack up and go. That is exactly why AVERT exists. Volunteers carry your support into disaster country and hand it to the people who need it, and we post from the field so you can see it arrive.

Where your gift goes

## Every dollar gets a job.

AVERT runs on a 100 percent volunteer basis, supported by donations and volunteers’ own resources. Volunteers pay their own way for training and gear, so your gift goes further.

Fuel

### Getting there

Gas and diesel to move volunteers and supplies into the disaster area.

Supplies

### What people ask for

Food, water, blankets, pet food, essentials and the specific items people on the ground request.

Support

### Backing the effort

Direct help for the first responders and relief efforts we work alongside.

“I understand that you coordinated a group of medical and support volunteers to deliver critical aid to over 400 families on the island.”

U.S. Senator Mark R. Warner, in an April 2018 letter about AVERT's work in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. [Read the letters](https://avertusa.org/about/#recognition)

Ways to give

## Four ways to send help.

- ### Give money

Give online through AVERT’s GoFundMe, open since September 5, 2017 and organized by Michael Brewer in Fort Smith, Arkansas. As of October 15, 2026, 189 donors had given $16,714 there. GoFundMe handles the payment, and as the fundraiser explains, Michael withdraws funds as needed for fuel and specifically requested supplies. Gifts through GoFundMe are not tax deductible.

- ### Give supplies

Water, food, blankets, pet food and essentials. Tell us what you have and where you are, and we will tell you where and when to send it.

- ### Give space

Live near, but not inside, a hurricane, wildfire or flood zone? Lend space and time to a regional distribution center.

[Offer space](https://avertusa.org/volunteer/?role=distribution#raise-your-hand)

- ### Give expertise

Help run gift and donation programs as a development officer, or take one of five advisory board seats.

Pledge

## Put your name on the load.

Tell us what you would like to give and Michael will follow up by email with where and when to send it. To give money right away, use [AVERT’s GoFundMe](https://www.gofundme.com/f/avert-disaster-relief).

Please pledge supplies instead of shipping them unannounced. A volunteer matches each pledge to a real request first. [Here is why](https://avertusa.org/help-after-a-disaster/#money-or-supplies).

### We show you the work.

When AVERT is in the field, we post updates so donors can watch their support arrive where it was needed.
